I save many, many RDP logons to both Win2K & Win20003 domain controllers as
well as member servers, and workstations. This is for remote support for my
clients. I always store the credentials to save myself time when logging on.

On one particular Windows 2003 SBS server (remote admin mode, of course), I
click through to save the credentials, and it works the first time. I enter
just the administrator user ID and password.

However, when I open the RDP file to reconnect later, it fails and bounces
back at me like this:

domain\AdminUserID [has inserted the [domain\"]
****** [OK]
Domain [Grayed out]

I have to remove the domain name & slash from the User name box before it
enables the domain box & works. If I set the RDP file to always ask for
credentials, then save the userID/password again, it works the first time,
but has the above issue when I reopen it.

What version of the RD client? I've seen this problem with the newest
one.....although esp for a server login like that, I don't recommend you
have it save your password.

OT, but check out Visionapp for a nice multi RD manager (free).

Yes, this is a feature (some call it a bug :-) in version 6.

I totally agree, don't know what I would do without it!

Re: Saved credentials

I use the same RDP client at my station, with saved sessions for each of
about 20 servers and 150 workstations. The only one displaying this behavior
is the one in question. All my other saved RDP sessions behave as I would
expect, retaining the correct relationship between the user & domain names.
