Re: Dual Boot
Sorry, read it wrong. Here's what I would do.
Get BootIt NG from
www.booting.com. Run the download to create a bootable
floppy installation disk. Boot to that disk, but Cancel at the installation
prompt. Then use Partition Work to resize your Win98 partition on the first
drive (HD0), making it smaller, leaving enough new space to house your WinXP
installation (has to be at least as large as the XP partition.) Then switch
to HD1 and Copy the XP partition, then back to HD0 to Paste it into the
empty space.
DO NOT delete the old XP partition yet.
Now, go to the Windows XP newsgroup and ask how to properly edit boot.ini
and whatever else you need to do to have the new partition properly
recognized as a bootable XP OS partition. You should still be able to boot
to the old XP partition, since it will still be in the same place. Once you
get it to boot to the new XP partition, then you can go back and delete the
old XP partition. I would then use BootIt NG to turn the second drive, HD1,
into a single Extended Partition with however many logical volumes you want.
Actually, you should go to the XP group first, and make sure you've got the
instructions right. Tell them about my BootIt NG recommendations so you'll
be on the same page.
