User Profile Issues, Possible Corruption?

Hi there.

I'm desktop support, and researching an issue we've got running right
now.

Most users I support are thin client/ terminal service users.
Currently 8 of them have problems with the start button.

We use 2X to pull the kernel down from server, saves it in memory, and
(I think) sends the user credentials to TS server. TS servers are
W2K3. There's 4 or 5 of them, loadbalancing.

User gets logged in, fine. Clicks on start button, start button looks
pressed but no response. Or, similar - the user can expand the start
menu but cannot open Programs.

On desktops, I've had this happen and it was profile, just rename and
log in- they're good to go.

To do a test, I cloned a user with issues to a test user....and
McTesty could log in, but had exact same problem that McUser had.

I'm new to TS- so bear with me.

1: Is this a profile corruption issue?
2: If so, how would I fix it? Would I hit all TS and delete profile of
user who's got issues?
3: Why does this happen?

It seems that I'm getting one a week - all same issue, and I have no
idea on how to fix. Right now we've got a workaround until I can get
this fixed...but I need to learn.

Any help is appreciated!

Re: User Profile Issues, Possible Corruption?

Greetings,

I understand that you are using an RDP client from www.2x.com that is linux
based. I am curious what happens if you log one of these users on from the
Microsoft client (mstsc.exe). Can you run a quick test for a user that is
experiencing this issue?

1. start, run, mstsc <enter>, key in the computer name of one of your
terminal servers.
2. logon as the domain account for the user that is experiencing the
problem.

What is your current workaround?

Thanks!
:)
