I downloaded Windows 2003 R2 64 bit & created 2 ISO image CDs. When place the
first one in CD/DVD drive, nothing happens!
I also got a DVD from Microsoft & same thing -- nothing happens.
My machine is a 64-bit AMD64 & it has no OS installed in it and BIOS setting
has CD/DVD first priority.
If I place the Standalone CD, installation starts. The problem seems to be
only with Enterprise version.
I am wondering whether I have to do anything special to install Enterprise
64 bit OS.
Please advice/help.
Thanks.

Re: Very basic question .. how to install?

If disc 1 does not boot, you have a bad disc.

Re: Very basic question .. how to install?

No insult but I would say, I strongly doubt it. Moreover, same thing
happening with the Microsoft supplied DVD.
Anyways, thanks.

Next thing to check: Is there a BIOS setting - boot order, or CD boot
disable?

Hi, w2k3e_install.

I'm glad you got it solved. ;<)

Now the courteous thing to do is - since you posted the question here in the
first place - is to tell us HOW the problem got solved. It might help us

Re: Very basic question .. how to install?

Well, it was a bizzare thing. I downloaded 2 files -- when created ISO, those
were created as .img files as the originals. I had to manually rename the
..img to .iso & then create ISO images -- I don't know why I did it but it
worked.

Hi, w2k3e_install.

Thanks for the report back. I'm sure you and I are not the only ones who
have experienced "bizarre things" with computers now and then. ;^}

Re: Very basic question .. how to install?

I too downloaded an image file from Microsoft with a .img
extension and couldn't get Nero or any other program to deal
with it. Since the description said it was an ISO9660 file
and the end of the file name was _ISO.img I removed the
..img, replaced the '_' with a dot and all was well.
