We went to Toronto Eaton Centre yesterday for more xmas shopping. I knew there was an Apple store there - but I had never gone in...so i did.
First thought... it's a weird sparse store.* There is a full glass front and slope in the center where the glass doors are..* you almost feel like your going to walk through the glass... rather unsettling start...
After you realize you are indeed inside - the store is basically a large empty - rectangle..* It's not empty - there are symetrical tables placed in rows down the middle of store..* with LOTS of people trying out ipods, imacs ..etc.
I tried out the iPod Touch at one of the tables. First time using one. It was pretty cool - although it wasnt as fast as i had imagined..
(*touch screen rocks though )
I also tried a few of the all in one iMacs - especially the ones with the super large screens.. Very nice.. but ..again.. slow.
So I tried a power mac - with the largest cinema display (gorgeous monitor) again... click photoshop, word, safari... SLOW
I got tired of waiting for the Dock icons jumping up and down... why dont the apps just open ..like on windows?*
Also - I was reminded why i dont enjoy macs.. not enough windows! *After opening photoshop the toolbars are on the desktop - you choose new - and the image window is on the desktop..* click the desktop - photoshop disappears..* now where did it go again?
Ive never liked the one toolbar mac ui... thats why windows are good = hold all the app in a window - not half desktop
If I ever win the lottery - perhaps ill venture back in there.* The best machine i played with had XP on it
