just thought id post this state of vista update*- remember the non-sharing printers?
well now the whole network is out. Tory had been on the phone with rogers complaining about youtube not workig (throttling) and somehow the guy said to plug directly into main computer (forego network/router/wireless) and she did..
so I wake up the next day - and no internet.
*replug in how it was...
ipconfig/release* /* ipconfig/renew
cool. i have internet back.. but the whole network is out..on all other machines
try the same thing i did on my machine..nope
Vista:
"you need to turn off router - wait a min - then power it up and try again"
(have done this 20 times...
You have a problem with your domain server configuration ... (reloads router software.. ) nope.* All machines set to auto ip/dns(checked)*and all see wireless network .. and connect but it doesnt work. (no internet - network works - but print sharing doesnt aahhhh!)
Spent far too long in the borked "Network And Sharing and Cookies Center"** ..its like a shell game - with links to the same windows opening in new windows over and over..
anyway - remember linux friend jakub? yep. hes on his way.
*what ever you do - do not unplug your router and plug it back in.. vista seems to not see the new ip
although - ill let you know what he said the problem was..
ah the days of xp...
