Windows Vista Cannot Remove Malware: DAEMON Advantage.

I need to burn some iso images I get from MSDN like Visual Studio 2008, etc/
MS does not provide a way to deal with iso files. They officially recommend
to use third party software. I searched the MSDN sites to get a trusted
opinion. People recommend various apps and today I decided to download and
install Daemon Lite.

I got in trouble very quickly. They say that it is a workable tool to burn
images but I could not find any buttons to do it. I downloaded a bunch of
adds and links to other websites to purchase $69.00 applications which I do
not even know what they will be doing.

I tried to uninstall the Demon, and it really deserves a name change, but
although Vista said that the uninstall was complete it is nothing but.

The desktop link is on. At least that was removable.

The registry is full of this cr***.

The folder in Program Files\DAEMON Tool Lite is impossible to delete. First
it was read only. I unchecked that. But after you closed it it comes back:
read only.
I do Right Click==>Properties==>Security==>

They set up a user: ***TrustedInstaller***. I cannot remove it through Edit
Button. If I press Remove, I get a security warning:

You can't remove TrustedInstaller because this object is inheriting
permissions from its parent. To remove the trusted installer, you must
prevent the object from inheriting permissions, and then try removing
TrustedInstaller again.

It also completely wiped out my Spybot S&D download which I have used for
weeks. It has been removed from the desktop, removed as a file folder from
Program Files.

It is a criminal company, I'll tell you. Our lawmakers probably get fat tips
from such guys to run their business unrestricted.

Who is the parent of the TrustedInstaller? How can I sever the Inheritance?
Why has it never come up as an issue with other software and folders I has
been removing? I may resort to just deleting all registry keys which contain
the devil marks. Is it a good Idea?

What shall I do?

Thanks.

Re: Cannot Remove Malware: DAEMON Advantage.

I would do a System Restore before you installed DAEMON. I remember a long
time ago when I installed DAEMON, it gave you the option to disable some
adware and shareware tools before installing it.

Re: Cannot Remove Malware: DAEMON Advantage.

Thanks, but I see no sense in what you are saying. I have already installed
DAEMON. BTW, it did give me that option and I think I accepted it (although
maybe even did not?) because it said that it was the only way I can use it
for free.

I am not a miser. I can pay for a good freeware. I donated $50 to Spybot S&D
a month ago. I just do not like to betaken advantage by the crooks. they had
no right to remove my other software. They are CROOKS.

BTW I reinstalled the SB S&D and ran it. it found one spot in the registry
HKEY_CLASSES\MEAD.1 (MeMedia.Advantage). I removed it.

What you are saying is garbage. it is not helpful at all.

I am asking how I can get rid of the folder the criminals set up in my
machine?

Please help someone.

Re: Cannot Remove Malware: DAEMON Advantage.

if you uninstall deamon tools ir removes this malware..

you can also try "spybot search and destroy" that is about one trillion time
better than windows Defender with DCS technology (Doesnt Catch Sh*t)

finally a better tool for mounting images that is free & clean is called
MAGICDISK

google it

Re: Cannot Remove Malware: DAEMON Advantage.

You want to get the software off your computer, so use System Restore to
return to an early point in time on your PC before you installed DAEMON
Tools. I have done this with crappy software I have installed and it removes
it. I didn't say anything about you being cheap by the way.

Re: Cannot Remove Malware: DAEMON Advantage.

system restore is NOT a good way to remove malware and viruses, it should be
used only as a last restort
becuase system restore does NOT monitor all kinds of files, thus residue of
those malware will still be located on the hard drives..

Even microsoft says this...

Re: Cannot Remove Malware: DAEMON Advantage.

Andre, I am really sorry. You just did not express it clearly.

I think the system does system backup automatically. I do have Vista
Ultimate, BTW.

I found a few restore points. I think I will restore the machine to a pint
of yesterday when I downloaded a parser and SDK from MS.

Thanks for suggestion. Such things are on your mind all the time but I
wanted to find out how other people handle them.

Thanks again.

Thank you VistaByte,

Where is your post you are referring to? I want to read it. Anyhow I am
about to follow Andre's suggestion and restore the system to an earlier
point.

Thanks.

Re: Cannot Remove Malware: DAEMON Advantage.

Andre, what do you think about this VistaByte guy? He seems to have an
agenda selling some of his overstock as far as I could see from one of his
previous posts.

Another poster called him a scam artist.

Re: Cannot Remove Malware: DAEMON Advantage.

Many thanks, Andre,

I just restored the system to an earlier point. I thought it would take
hours but it took a few minutes.

DAEMON is gone!!!

Great. Down with VistaByte.

Thanks.

Re: Cannot Remove Malware: DAEMON Advantage.

Your advices sucked...

read this link http://bertk.mvps.org/html/tips.html#9

where it states:

Can I use System Restore to remove virus or malware infection?

NO. System Restore was not designed to be a virus or spyware removal tool
and should not be depended on to do so. Click here for more information on
virus and spyware removal.

There are reasons for this, and mainly the reasons are that system restore
does not monitor all the files, by using system restore what you get is
remains of the malware on your drive..

this is NOT the best way to remove malware although it MAY WORK, but if you
keep doing it, your hard drive has lots of files that should not be there...

You should know better Andre... Thank god you are not a doctor...

Re: Cannot Remove Malware: DAEMON Advantage.

To me it sounds like the file is in use. System restore will definently be
unsuccessful. Try starting in safe mode and deleting it. If that doesnt work
try deleting the file from a command prompt (That might not work). If theres
any success there is most likely to be tables left in the registry. I dont
usually click the reigstry. I had to delete a couple of startup
objects(leftover from a virus). If there was a virus it will probaly run a
DLL. If you see a note about RunDLL when you logon to windows there were
tables that need to be deleted. I can't help you there.
If a note does popup ask someone about the registry.

Re: Cannot Remove Malware: DAEMON Advantage.

Thank you very much. It is very helpful. I do have some experience with the
registry. Now I will spend a few days studying ways to cope with future
exigencies.

Re: Cannot Remove Malware: DAEMON Advantage.

BTW, the restoration has removed the DAEMON folders from Program Files but
the registry has not been cleaned. the keyword Daemon is yielding almost the
same crop, e.g f!cidaemon.ex in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.

What shall I do about it?

Thanks.
