I Purchase Windows Vista Ultimate retail/box from Zipzoomfly.com.
The 64 bit DVD would not boot, but the 32 bit would. Tried a
different DVD drive with the same results. I want to install the
64 bit version. I contacted Zipzoomfly for a RMA and they said
it was non-returnable. Will Microsoft replace? If so, does
anybody have a phone number or a web link that I can use to
resolve my issue?
Any help is appreciated.

Re: 64 bit Vista DVD install failure

Please describe what happens when you try to boot with the 64-bit edition
dvd. Is your computer 64-bit capable? What cpu is in it?

If it is 64-bit capable, I suggest you investigate the problem with the
optical drives rather than replace the Windows. It might be a problem you
need to address regardless of what OS you are now using.

Re: 64 bit Vista DVD install failure

Assume when you say "boot" you are, in fact, starting the computer via the
DVD. The 64-bit DVD will not "start" from within a 32-bit version of
Windows.

Re: 64 bit Vista DVD install failure

Did you make sure that ZipZoomFly realised that you wanted to EXCHANGE the
returned item for a replacement and not a refund? There should be no
problem getting a replacement from them. Microsoft is set up to refund
purchases if made in the first 45 days within the United States, but I am
not aware of an exchange for something that was not purchased from them
directly. ZipZoomFly is supposed to replace defective software with
identical product.

Re: 64 bit Vista DVD install failure

River Guy, you have to put the CD in the drive and restart the computer.
Like Netman said , It will not boot from within Windows.
