Howdy,

I'm running SBS2003, Service Pack 2 (NOT R2), and I've run into kind
of a pesky problem. We recently installed Intel Server Manager 8.30,
updated to 8.40, then uninstalled because it wasn't very useful in our
environment.

Unfortunately, something seems to have stuck around, as I now get a
dialog box starting configuration of Intel Server Manager, which then
fails about 5 seconds later with a dialog box about being unable to
find the InstallHelper.dll. This happens whenever I make changes to
the Windows configuration or install software/updates, so it's kind of
annoying, as it repeats 10 or 11 times before giving up.

In addition, our event log reports the following error: "Detection of
product '{DD09CEA5-2425-4D89-AFFB-24A6A10AFF06}', feature 'LSMClient'
failed during request for component '{436D7A23-36BE-11D2-
ACBB-0080C7FCBB84}'"

The error doesn't seem to affect whatever I'm installing, but my
Google searches have been less than helpful, as no one seems to know
anything about REMOVING Intel Server Manager.

Any hints or tips would be appreciated, thanks!

you could try to reinstall again and then see, if the product can be
successfully uninstalled after doing so.

Run regedit and search for entries, which are related to the product and
also to those keys. Export them, if you are unsure and then delete the keys
(if unique to the software) or values (if entries in a key related to many
stuff) manually.
Reboot and see, if it still happens.

This is sometimes the only way to get rid of dead software remains.

Olaf,

Thanks for the quick response, ran through regedit, we'll see if the
error comes back. Looks like my registry cleaner didn't do a very
thorough job after I killed this product.

registry cleaners are nothing I would trust really - and especially on a
server I would never use them.
