I have a sony VAIO VGn_RN11 with windows vista home premium 32 bit.
Next to this laptop i am using a secondary monitor (22" Samsung syncmaster
2232BW) The laptop has a Mobile intel 965 express chipset family graphic card.
When I connect the secondary monitor to the laptop, he monitor starts
flickering... I can see horizontal flickering stripes, that go from the
bottom to the top of he screen. I believe this is obviously a frequency
(refresh-rate)-problem, but i cannot change the refresh rate in the display
settings. I can only select 60Hz
The flickering doesn't have anything to do with any other devices, cables,
or something like that, because when i connect it to my iBook it doesn;t
happen, when i connect the secondary monitor i use on the iBook (same
samsung) it flickers.
I have tried several drivers (windows, intel and samsung) for the monitor
but the flickering stays.
The only time the flickering was gone, was when i did a hard power switch
off, that forced the computer to do a check up. Right after this check up,
the flickering was gone, but gradually came back.
anyone knows what's the cause and the solution to this problem?
