Using vpl to detect coloured objects

hi everyone, i am new on this vpl stuff & my project needs me to use vpl to enable my humanoid to walk in a coloured enviroment & pick up a coloured object & drop it at a designated area. Can anyone help? i'm really clueless on this project.
