I'm getting dark streaks across my monitor; eg: A column of script or icons
on left
side of mon. will form shadowy lines in a row across the mon.

How can I tell if it's the mon. or the vid. card ?
I'm using win98se, updated and NVIDIA Ge Force 256 AGR +

Any kind of test to determine which is at fault ?

The only way to know for sure is to try a different monitor
or try that monitor on another machine...

but you may want to boot to safe mode...where the video card will be run at
low resolution...
and check....
if the image is still streaked, the problem is probably in the monitor

As philo suggested, swapping is the most definitive test. Also don't overlook
the video cable.

power down ..pull the power cord.

pull and reseat your vid card ...remove and reconnect (2-3 times) your vid
cable.

if this does not work....give the cable to the monitor a little wiggle while
its on.

no change? suspect vid card memory ... :>
