microsoft.net framework version 1.1

Hello...
Windows update shows the net framework 1.1 as optional install(for my
w2000 pro machine).However i already have net framework version 2
installed.Do i need version one as well or does version 2 cover
everything ?

After reading some previous posts there at the group ,it seems that
some apps can be dependent on 1.1.As i dont already have that installed
i guess i dont need it .Only one app that i use seem to require .net
version 2 so ill just leave it at that for now.
