As a few of you already know, I'm planning on operating a simple webhosting company (with 5 customers already, wheee), mainly so I can afford to make my dedicated server pay for itself. I drew up pricing schemes over a year ago, but I've been advised that maybe I'm setting my sights a little too low.
A friend of mine advised my bottom price of 50 USD cents per month was masochism. That plan had 2GB of bandwidth and 256MB of space. Everything else was enabled, like ASP.NET and PHP, but no database.
He said it would give the impression I'm a dodgy outfit, serving hosting off a 56K dial-up connection in some third-world nation. (On the contrary: high-powered dedicated server in a Californian datacenter with OC-48 pipes).
As a potential customer, would any of you get "suspicious" at such low prices?
