Re: msvcrt.dll missing
Your system could be seriously compromised if the file msvcrt.dll is
missing from the folder C:\Windows|System since this file is protected
against random deletion by Win Me's System File Protection mechanism. If
SFP, and therefore also System Restore, are broken I would be concerned
about the integrity of the system.
Nevertheless try the steps outlined in MS KB299296 - "Error Message: Error
Loading Explorer.exe You Must Reinstall Windows"

http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=299296) to reinstall the missing
msvcrt.dll.
Since you don't have a Win Me CD hopefully the CAB files mentioned in the
KB are on your hard drive and located in either the
C:\Windows\Options\Cabs or C:\Windows\Options\Install folder.
