One of our senior group members here has sent me this email and I don't know
how to help him.

On start-up, the screen shows the IBM motive and then,Press F1 for
configuration etc. (nothing happens)
Then it throws up the following message:-

"The RF-ID Tag has changed
184 Asset control antennae not detected

System Security is locked

PXE-MO4 - Initialising Network boot device using interrupt 18h.......
System Security -Keyboard is locked
176 The system has been tampered with

Turn power to your system off and then on
Your system is now locked."

I have tried multiple times to turn the power on and off, both at the
computer and at the switch on the wall plug, but cannot seem to get it
right.
Also over the past few days, there have been a few times when it has started
up correctly. I would appreciate comment or and is this a job for taking my
computer to experts.

Yours sincerely,
Peter

Is there any one in this group that could help us out with this problem?

I've never used Windows 2000 so I don't know what to advice to give him.

Re: Windows 2000 Bootup Issue

The senior group member will need to contact IBM tech support, the
problem has nothing to do with Windows, it is purely a hardware issue.

The machine is attempting a network boot...
more than likely because the HD is not detected.

have him go into to bios to see if the HD can be detected
and set it as the first boot device.

If no HD is detected then next step is to check the data cable...
if that's OK then the HD has probably failed

Thanks Bob and Philo for the information, I have passed it on to our member.
