OK, I've had Vista Ultimate 64 Bit going on my laptop for almost one year now and it has been absolute smooth sailing until last week. My company installed a new I/P based phone system from Shoretel and the Client based call manager will not run properly on a 64 Bit windows install.

The Application uses the TAPI function, however when it installs it's drivers do not appear to load (I think).

My question is does anyone have experience with this software, and if so has anyone found a work around. I've sent multiple emails to the Vendor and of course......no response.

KevinD,

Have you tried Shoretel web site?
http://www.shoretel.com/products/call_manager/personal_call_manager.html

They have a Support page with downloads and KB here:
http://support.shoretel.com/

Re: My first Vista 64 Bit compatibility issue

Re: My first Vista 64 Bit compatibility issue

Yes, their K.B. has one reference to 64 Bit that is over a year old (not
supported), and the 7 version of the software is what I have and doesn't
work.

I'm not able to get any info about version 7.5. Our Vendor (we cannot deal
with Shoretel directly) claims that's a beta (strange to see it posted for
download if that's true).

The info I've been able to find I've scrounged off the internet and it
hasn't been much.

Re: My first Vista 64 Bit compatibility issue

It is not at all unusuall to see beta drivers for various devices. The
nVidia drivers did not go final until just a few weeks ago. Beta drivers
generally are reliable enough but often do not enable the full funtionality
of the device yet.

Re: My first Vista 64 Bit comatability issue

Just a thought, but have you tried "run as administrator" when running the installation program?
Lots of times people have trouble with install programs and find that running as administrator clears up the problems.
I'm talking generally here. I know nothing of Shoretel, etc.

DP,

Thank you for the suggestion. I did try that...even went so far as to install with UAC deactivated, however nothing changed.

Re: My first Vista 64 Bit comatability issue

Try installing Virtual PC under Vista X64 and install Windows XP (32 bit) under Virtual PC. Make sure you install Sp2 and all the security fixes.

Not without knowing how he is going to use a microphone or headset with a virtual machine.
