Hi
I have a Vaio notebook with vista business and 80 GB HD. I wanted to
upgrade to a 160 GB so I backed up my whole pc using windows backup to
an external HD. the new HD was installed and I tried to restore my PC
using the recovery disc . the backup files however are not recognized.
my old HD is still operational and when I use restore with the old
drive the backup file is recognized, but not with the new HD installed.
can anybody help?
thanks

Re: restore complete pc vista business

Easiest thing is to stick the old HD in a external USB enclosure.
Reinstall your software
Copy your data back.

Or

Using an image program like Norton ghost
Create an image of the external hd to write to DVD.

Reboot with norton restore disk
and restore that image to your new hard drive.
