DNS Load Balancing with Session Directory

Hi All,

I have currently built a Clustered Session Directory Resource group. This
seems to be working just fine i.e. the the cluster group fails over and back
and all resources come online.

My next step is to build and hook the TS Servers to this session directory
using either Local Policy or GPO to join them to session directory

Our hardware load balancer has yet to be configured and this wont be done
anytime soon i have been told.

So, my question is in the Interim, can I still set this up i.e. build three
TS Servers and hook them into the session directory and use DNS Based load
balancing for the time being. Obviously we wont be able prevent clients being
directed to a server if it goes down (unless manually invoked by removing the
DNS entry of a failed server)... but assuming none of the servers go down in
the short term, can sessions still be reconnected using this method of load
balancing?

Thanks to all

Lozza

Re: DNS Load Balancing with Session Directory

Yep, this would work just fine as SD does not depend any load balancers.

Thanks,
Roman

Re: DNS Load Balancing with Session Directory

fantastic... thanks for the quick reply... Roman, can I also ask, while on
the subject, is there a way to automatically take the specific IP of a failed
server out of DNS to provide some kind load balancing resilience if any of
the servers fail in the short term, so clients are not routed to the failed
server at all?

Loz.
