Help me please,

When I start the computer up, I get message that due to hardware changes
(nothing has changed in the last 4 years) I have to activate Windows within 3
days. When I click yes, I get a blank Activate Windows screen which goes into
not responding after a while. If I go to accessories, system tools and try to
activate again same story, blank window.

I have uninstalled IE7 and Windows Media Player 11 as recommended by other
threads, but still no difference.

I would appreciate it if somebody could help me with this or point me to the
right thread, because I have to activate windows within 3 days.

Kind regards and thanks in advance for any help

Marlow

Nah, it's easy to set the clock or calendar back.

And while the problem (no doubt caused by weird hardware) is an
inconvenience, you can't build a house without making sawdust (unless you
build the house of mud bricks like certain African constructs do).

No, it was cause by the activation software reacting with a false positive.

Red herring. Fact is, activation and becoming "genuine" only
inconveniences paying customers and does nothing to stop the real
pirates. I have two former XP users who are sick and tired of it
bringing their computers over here this afternoon so I can nuke XP and
install Ubuntu. That will make five for the week and it's only Tuesday!
