I am in the process of deleting the old $NtUninstall folders (anything that
is from 12/07 and back, i understand that i am not suppose to deletie the
$hf_mig$) to clear up space on my server.

Below are SOME of the $UnInstallKB directory names:
$UnInstallKB921503$ modify date: 1/10/2008 (the date that i applied
the update)
$UnInstallKB921503_0$ modify date: 8/25/2007 (the date that I applied the
update)
$UnInstallKB925902$ modify date: 1/10/2008 (the date that I applied
the update)
$UnInstallKB925902_0$ modify date: 5/15/2007 (the date that I applied the
update)
$UnInstallKB926122$ modify date: 1/10/2008 (the date that I applied
the update)
$UnInstallKB926122_0$ modify date: 7/15/2007 (the date that I applied
the update)
$UnInstallKB929123$ modify date: 1/10/2007 (the date that I applied
the update)
$UnInstallKB929123_0$ modify date: 6/24/2007 (the date that I applied
the update)
$UnInstallKB930178$ modify date: 1/10/2008 (the date that I applied
the update)
$UnInstallKB930178_0$ modify date: 5/15/2007 (the date that I applied
the update)
Etc....

Can I delete the $NtUnistallkbXXXXXX_0$ without any ramifications? to me it
seems that for some reason on the dates 5/07-12/07 the updates were
installed on my server and than for another reason it was updated again on
1/10/08

Thank you,

Re: $NtUnistall directory question

Folders that have uninstall as part of the name (for example $NtUninstallKB282010$ which
reside in C:\windows (hidden folders) are Window Hot Fix Update folders/files) can be
safely deleted (providing you never wish to uninstall the updates). I would recommend
leaving these folders for a period of at least a month to make sure the update is working
correctly.

These updates can be deleted individually or in multiples. To find out more about the
update/s go to:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=XXXXXX
NB: XXXXXX = the actual number not including the "Q" or "KB"

Once you have deleted the uninstall folders/files, then go to Control Panel, Add/Remove
Programs. Select the matching Windows Hotfix Title relating the update folder/file you
have just deleted and select remove. You will get a Windows error. This is because you
have deleted the uninstall folder/files. Just choose OK and the entry will be deleted from
the Add/Remove Programs Listing.

RE: $NtUnistall directory question

Hello luv2bike2,

Take a look here.

What are the $NTUninstall folders? Can they be deleted?
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Hotfix_backup.htm

Save Space After Installing Updates

I'm sure you'll get more detailed help from the guys who know a lot more
than me, but I hope this is enough to get you on the right road for now.

I hope this post is helpful.
