Thanks Sally. You don't know how much your advice assisted me. It was
spot on. In fact, I even uninstalled SP4 rollup after fixing up the
printing issue and reinstalled it to prove that by deleting
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\PostS PUpgrade) and then
restarting the spooler, it alone solved the problem - and it did. Even
though I spent countless hours trying to fix the problem before taking
your advice, I was much relieved when your technique worked. thanks
