I have seen some comments on the net that stated you can only have two TS
sessions on a machine with Windows Server 2003 Standard loaded and if I want
more concurrent TS Sessions I would need to purchase the Enterprise version.
These references are all pretty old.

Is that still true?

Re: Server 2003 Standard vs. Server 2003 Enterprise

No, and it has never been true either!

Enterprise Edition is only required if you want to use TS together
with the Session Directory service. The Terminal Services Session
Directory service is a database that keeps track of sessions on
terminal servers in a load-balanced cluster. In addition, this
service provides the information that is used at connection time to
connect you to an existing session.

But with just Standard Edition, there is no limit to the number of
sessions, other than what your hardware can sustain.

The 2 session limit applies only to servers (of all editions) which
are configured for Remote Desktop for Administration, i.e. they are
not real Terminal Servers, and Terminal Services was never
installed.

RE: Server 2003 Standard vs. Server 2003 Enterprise

Dear Customer,

Thanks for post here, and thank to Vera for the assistance.

For your concern about the number of the concurrent Terminal Service
sessions, I'd like to share some knowledge.

Analysis:
=========

For Windows Server 2003 Standard and Enterprise, there is no limitation to
the number of the concurrent Terminal Service.

You may run MPSRPT_NETWORK.EXE on the Windows Server 2003 system to collect
the system information to verify it.

In the collected network information of MPS Report, you may find the string
"Maximum Logged On Users" is "Unlimited"
