I have two servers (Win2K3 SP1) identically configured for SNMP. They both
have two different community strings. On one server an application is able
to poll String A. On the other it can't. Checking the firewall the request
passes towards the server but never comes back. From the firewall a test of
String B works fine. We have double checked the community string is spelled
correctly
Netstat also confirms that port 161 is open. Nothing in the event logs. Is
there anything else I can check to confirm the request is making it to the
server and what happens inside? I was thinking netmon might show me the
packets. Is there any value in recreating the community string in case
something is corrupted?
