I can't get past the splash screen! I've also tried to re-install, and it
freezes during that process as well!

Thinkin' its a hardware prob. Any ideas of a software fix first?

Thanks,

Billy

You can't fix hardware problems with software fixes - best
to ask a hardware group.

Run a RAM test
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

also, to test the harddrive
just go to the websote of the harddrive's manufacturer
and you can download their free diagnostic software

Go to the website of your hard disk manufacturer and download and run their
disk diagnostics software. You probably have a failed/failing hard disk.

It's unlikely to be a hardware problem otherwise you would not get to
the splash screen stage. It sounds like Win2k has become corrupted and
will need tobe repaired or probably re-installed. First run a chksk/r
from the repair console to ensure your hard drive is ok.
