Hello,

We have a terminal server on which 50 users logon via terminal services to
access various application on that server. We also have Microsoft Office
2003 installed on this server.

All the users using Excel 2003, are facing screen refresh problem heavily.
Whenever Inserting, Deleting any rows in excel, will refresh the screen very
slowly.

Has anybody faced such issue?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Denis

Hi Denis

I look after a Win2K3 terminal server cluster which around 60 users log on
to in order to use the office suite. I wonder if this problem appears to be a
resource issue? Have you tried using Excel on the terminal server when maybe
only one user is logged on, maybe outside of operational hours?

Have you made sure that your users are not using Windows desktop themes and
that your servers have been tuned to optimum performance?

I have realised myself over the years that Excel does seem to be quite
resource intensive especially when dealing with huge multi-page spreadsheets.

RE: Excel Screen Refresh Problem in Terminal Server

Hi there,

We were facing this problem in Office 2003 Professional. So, I uninstalled
it and installed Office 2002 (Office XP), and I was surprised to see that the
problem got solved to a great extent. Is there a problem with Office 2003?

When I insert a row in excel s

heet, the screen refreshes slowly. But with Office 2002, the refresh gets
faster.

Thanks in advance.

Denis

RE: Excel Screen Refresh Problem in Terminal Server

One more thing we have observed practically, that when using Excel 2003 on
Windows 2003 Terminal Server, we get Screen Refresh Issue in Excel. Whenever
inserting one or more rows, the screen moves down or refreshes very slowly.

But, when using Excel 2003 on Windows 2000 Terminal Server, there is NO
Screen Refresh Issue. When inserting one or more rows in excel sheet, the
screen moves down or refreshes quickly (unnoticeable).

Can anybody explain me this? Does anybody have solution to the problem of
Excel 2003 on Windows 2003 Terminal Server?

Thanks In Advance.
