I am fairly new when it comes to programming so you are going to have to hang in there with me.* If I say anything that makes your headscatch, you are probably rightfully doing so.
I am a hardware designer and, because I work for a small company, got thrust into developing some software as well.* I had minimal software coding experience before this job, but have done some embedded C and some work in Visual Studio .net since working here.
Considering my success with that, my company has also decided that I am the best suited to develp the software for our mobile device to communicate with our product via RS 232.
FTR, nothing has been released yet.
To test and to control the product during developement I created a visual studio project in C# to communicate via RS 232 to the development board which was successful.
Now I want to do a similar thing for our Windows Mobile 5.0 device (iPAQ 2495).* The problem is that I am completely failing in my testing.* It is not like development for the desktop where I can just run the debugger and use the serial port. . . because I have to disconnect the serial port and connect it to my device in order to test.
The problem is that when I do this the debugger, of course, says I have lost connection AND the programming running on the device freezes up.
So any suggestions on what I should be doing?* I am just not sure which direction I need to be going.
Thanks for the help
Charlie
