I recently purchased the above product, but when I try to format it in
NTFS on my desktop (Windows XP SP2) I get the error, "The operation
did not complete because the partition or volume is not enabled. To
enable the partition or volume, restart the computer." It still
doesn't work when I restart the computer. It DOES work on my wife's
laptop, so I know the drive works.
I found a thread in this group that may help if I was able to
communicate with either party but I have been unsuccessful:

Is anyone available to help me with my new external Hard drive?
It is a 235 GB external disk and after repeated tries to format and
partition it in Disk Manage to NTFS I keep getting the following
error
message: "The operation did not complete because the partition or
volume is
not enabled. To enable the
partition or volume restart the computer."
I restart and go back to disk manage and get the same message. The
drive is
visible in Disk Manage but as RAW not NTFS.
This operation was done on my home computer. On my office computer
the
partition/format on the disk works fine and I was even able to move
files on to the disks.
I would be very happy if someone would have any ideas?

Thanks,
Eli

Hi Himanshu. Yes the jumpers are set properly. The disk works on
other
computers and I can even move files onto it.
On my computer I cannot format and partition to NTFS. I keep getting
the
message "The operation did not complete because the partition or
volume is
not enabled. To enable the partition or volume restart the computer."
Any other ideas?
