How can I improve the display of Word in Terminal Server?

I have Word open on my local PC, I have Word open in my Terminal Server
session, and placing them side-by-side you can clearly see the Terminal
Server display is far inferior to my local PC instance of Word.

I have set all the display settings as high as possible for the Terminal
Server session and the quality is still inferior - what else can be done?

Re: How can I improve the display of Word in Terminal Server?

What is the OS on the server and the client, what are the display
settings and rdp client version, and what are the settings on the
server?

Re: How can I improve the display of Word in Terminal Server?

Server OS: Windows Server 2003 Release 2
Client OS: Windows XP SP 2
RDP version 5.1.2600.2180 (Shell version 5.1 build number 2600)
Display Settings on the client are 1280x1024, Colour Quality - Highest (32
bit)
Display Settings on the server are 1280x1024 colour quality medium (16 bit
bit)

Do you need anything else?

The server settings are the highest they will go. I understand the server
Terminal Server settings say limit to 24 bit (which is the highest), but
with all the checkboxes checked for my rdp client I can't get it any higher
than 16 bit.

thanks

Re: How can I improve the display of Word in Terminal Server?

Set the server settings in Terminal Services Configuration to
Client Compatible (which means use the highest setting that the
client can support). The default setting for XP cients is 16 bit.

I assume that the server setting is not fixed and greyed out, is
it? If it is, that would mean that you have a GPO with the setting:

Computer Configuration - Administrative templates - Windows
Components - Terminal Services
"Limit maximum color depth"
