Purchased a computer (Number two) several years ago (2005) from another
company (a non computer business). Number two Had XP Pro loaded on it with
the MS XP Pro sticker on the back with the Key Code.

This was to be our secondary computer used mostly for persomnal and home use
and some minor accounting work. There was another computer (Number one) that
served as the main working computer and the direct Inet and firewall harwall
setup, and we also set up an Ethernet intranet.

Used number two since with no problems. 2 weeks ago the number one computer
wwent down (Bad HD), so now there is no buffer between the Harware Firewall
and the current comuter. This week started getting these strange notes and
opo ups on number two.

Basically telling me that our XP is not an authorised copy and the key code
is invalid. Their is a star symbol now placed on the bottm right corner of
the screen and it links to a web site where they tell me I must upgrade my XP
for $149...

Worse, the site is constantly poppin up windows warning me about the invalid
software and to do something about it. This interupts my work and sometimes
locks up the computer totally if I am in the middle of some other working
program and I end up losing some work too having to do a hadr re-boot.

I think this is some hacker scam.

If so, then how do I rid myself of the symbol and its irritating and
constant pop up interuptions.

If this is a legit MS deal, then where do i go to let them know my software
is good and get shed of this irretating problem.

My thanks in advance, harried worker.........

Open system tools, open register xp,enter product key numbers and see what
it says to do..You can also select in that registration window "phone
registration"
follow the wizard,if it fails,call:888 5712048 You can also go to
validation page at:
http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/Default.aspx?displaylang=en
This will check youre software auto.

Sounds to me like you really do have a pirated copy of XP.
The only solution is to obtain a valid license from MS.

Otherwise you wind up in the murky area of XP hacks and no telling what
might happen there ... most likely all bad and nothing good.
