Know anyone with a high-speed connection, who maybe hangs out or works at an
internet cafe? Any of them could download the SP2 installer and burn it to
CD for you. You can then just run the installer from CD and you'll be off.
This will probably be the fastest and cheapest way to do this; it may cost
you under $5 for the disk and their time.
Incidentally, unless you're forced to use some specific software that
absolutely has to have SP1a, there's no real reason that the original XP
can't connect to the internet so you can download this directly.
