Okay, I don't like saying 'I was right' - after all it usually means
something negative. But I was - Lavasoft have gone back on the promise
of lifelong updates to those who bought Ad-aware Plus back in, in my
case, late-2000. They call it a different product - as I predicted
they would - which those like myself may - whoopee do! - upgrade to at
a 40% discount!

Funny, because it's going to cost them more than they save with this
cheap attempt to renege on the original deal they made with, among
doubtless many others, me.

It really is time everybody realized businesses in the security field
that renege on their deals are as bad as the people they supposedly
protect against. It is the same reason as why a 'bent copper' is worse
than an ordinary crook.

Re: Ad-aware Plus 2007

That's a crock. I don't see how they can get away with calling it a
different product and they should honor their agreement with those that
supported their product in the beginning. I have a number of apps that have
lifetime updates, some that are about 10 years old and I am still getting
program updates. Of course, I have had others that will update only until
the primary version number changes, but, that was revealed in the beginning!
Personally, I think you and all the other folks that purchased the 'plus'
version, are getting shafted on this one.

Re: Ad-aware Plus 2007

I have to agree with you there Heirloom, I think it sucks <g> I have
programs that have lifetime updates even though the original product has
changed I still get the updates without problems. My zip program comes to
mind, Power Archiver, that has changed needing a new install key for the
new version but it was still free for me to update, I have had it several
years as well.
That's my 2 cents worth <g>

Shane:
Just received this link and thought it may be helpful in your situation:
http://www.download.com/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=rb-watchlist&tag=watchmail_dltxt,
it surely isn't for me and my WinME.
Let me know if it did anything at all to solve your problem.

Harry.

Harry,

The problem is I'm supposed to get Ad-aware Plus updates for life but
to get out of their commitments they now call it Ad-aware Plus 2007 or
Ad-aware 2007 Plus and claim it's a different program. The problem is
Lavasoft have turned into a bunch of lying cheats.

I think the way to solve my problem will be to report them for fraud
and make sure it gets widely disseminated.

Without disputing your claim, it's hard to accept this fact, because they
seem to operate on a user-friendly basis.
Sorry I couldn't be of help.

If your description conforms to the facts, I support such action. <H>.

We are a bit "edgy" today, aren't we???
I told you to go after them, not me!
Why do you "choose" to pick a fight with me?
I don't feel like "playing".
Cheers,

Harry.

You mindless idiot. My original response hasn't even made it to Google
Groups. If I ever meet you, Harry, your long marriage will end.
