TS WEB ACCESS 2008 - ActiveX control not installed or not enabled

I have TS Web Access set up in Win2008 without a gateway.

The client is WinXP with:
- SP2
- IE7
- "Remote Desktop Connection 9 for WindowsXP-KB925876-x86-ENU.exe" installed
- On the same subnet and domain as the server.

I am able to run an application using an rdp created for that app. But when
I browse to the server using IE, I get the TS Web Access page with
everything except the area where the application icons are supposed to
display has the error, "ActiveX control not installed or not enabled".

The server is in my Trusted Sites zone and everything is set to either
Enable or Prompt. There is no yellow bar either. Other trusted sites
install their ActiveX controls without issue.

Please don't tell me that I have to install SP3 as that is not an option. I
am hoping that I need to change a setting or can install the ActiveX control
directly.

I hate to bring you news that you don't want to hear, but the
client needs to run XP SP3.

Documented here:

Yuck!

I have no problem with a new OS not supporting old technology, but for a
server OS to not support the dominant client OS is ridiculous.

But it does, or rather, it will soon.
Just update your XP client to run SP3 and rdp client 6.1 and you'll
be fine.
It's not unreasonable that support for new technology on an old OS
needs an update, I think.

I have XP SP2 Swedish, and there is no SP3 for Swedish XP. Server 2008 is
released and we can't get any of our PC:s to work with it :-(

Re: TS WEB ACCESS 2008 - ActiveX control not installed or not enab

It's utter ridiculous that they STILL haven't released the updated client
when the server has OFFICIALLY launched. I had plans to implement TS 2008
but due to Microsoft's utter lack common sense I will skip it. Good riddance
to bad rubbish!!
