I went by one of my favorite computer stores and got into a conversation
with owner today. He told me that an MS representative who was in charge
of contracts with stores told him they now require that people buy a
complete computer in order to get a copy of a generic OEM XP, Home or
Pro and the representative told him that they made this change to FORCE
people to buy Vista. He also told me that MS told the game makers that
if they didn't make their games DX10 compatible and DX9c incompatible,
they wouldn't give them the information they need for their games to
work with Windows. Of course, DX10 won't install on XP.

Bottom line is that MS knows that no one except morons like Frank want
Vista so they are doing everything they can to make sure potential
customers can buy nothing else.

BS! Is MS going to go throught the store's books to make sure they sell
complete systems with OEM XP disks?

Utter crap, and illegal!

Dx* installs altered by ORDER: IlLEGAL

I used to think maybe parts from you were right; now you are becoming
pathetic and deperate.

I have issues with Vista and MS; but not the crap you write!

Yes.

Wrong. You don't sign the contract with MS, you don't get Windows.

Huh? New games will not work with DX 9c, ONLY 10. What don't you
understand about that. 10 can ONLY be installed in Vista, not XP. If you
know a way to install 10 in XP, I'm all ears.

Hey, I just am telling you what the guy told me. He refuses to sell a
generic OEM XP, Home or Pro without a computer unless you want retail. I
called around and all the other chains had the same song and dance. I
know you can get it at NewEgg. I just ordered three and a friend in the
USA will send them to me ;-) Besides, with the wimpy dollar, I save
about 60 dollars each.

Since you absolutly love Ubuntu, there is no need for you to deal with the
"devil" as you put it. Remember all the problems with MS? Activation and
other issues that you need to deal with? Why not stick with Ubuntu and
don't even think about Vista or XP.

You should rely on heresay from another party. Forget about it. Go play
with AWK and GIMP. I'm sure you can GIMP along with Ubuntu.

Just FYI

As Frank could tell you are a fu*cking lying Linux troll. Any of your
customers can go to eBay, a European site, perhaps even in Spanish, in
French for sure, and purchase any XP they want.

Yet another fly-by posting from you. As usual, you either didn't read the
whole post, (Or any of it), or didn't understand it. It didn't have anything
to do with buying an OE copy form EBay, but rather had everything to do with
what has been said of the underhanded practices of M$, in this case forcing
the purchase of a complete system etc. I'm not saying, nor agreeing to the
truthfulness of the post, but get it right before you condemn and spew
expletives. Actually, keep the expletives and insults to yourself.
...Aspiring to Frank Junior?

Good Day

You really need help if you either believe that cr@p or make it up.

It is obviously lies by one of you.. why? because it is so obviously wrong..

Lets pull it apart point by point..

If you only allow OEM windows to be bought by someone buying a whole machine
that doesn't make them by vista just because they are buying a machine. What
it does do is the opposite of what is claimed and makes it less likely
someone will buy vista as the cost has gone up.

As all the information for writing games on DX is already in the public
domain just exactly how is M$ not going to give them information needed to
write games for windows?

Bottom line is that you are making cr@p up to support your views.

BTW I don't need to make stuff up if you want me to rubbish Ubuntu..
Take this very moment..

I have a fujitsu siemens esprimo v5535 notebook sitting here..
last night I installed Ubuntu 7.04 on it from CD while waiting for the 7.10
DVD to download (I gave my last copy away)..
It installed fine, no drivers for the wireless network but other than that
it was working..
so put in DVD and boot..
start the install..
guess what?
The stupid installer makes the windows too big too fit the desktop so I
can't see the buttons at the bottom!
Progress, wonderful!
Now I am trying to remember what the buttons say and hope I don't cancel it.
Where is it you report bugs in Ubuntu?
