I have desktop computer that had windows 98 on it before i got it, when i
recieved it it had no OS on it at all so i checked it to see if it was able
to handle xp home sp2 and it could so i installed it. Everything is working
corectlly but i was wondering why it shows that i have usb 1.0 conections and
not usb 2.0 connections, I have looked at the device manager and found out
that i have a (intel(r) 82371ab/eb pci to usb uhc) file version 5.1.2600.2180
with these as my drivers usbhub.sys, usbport.sys, usbuhci.sys and usbui.dll.
I have no idea what this is all for but i was wondering how i can update the
usb connections, would it be a driver update or a hardware or software
upgrade.

Re: Windows XP Home SP2 and USB Controllers

If you have an available PCI slot you can install a USB2.0 card like the one
here:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815104216. They are
very inexpensive.
