When is free not free? What is the price paid when an itemis consumed? Not just money but every thing. What is free? I have been readingthis article in wired and wonder what take niners might have on it? The bigexample given in the article is how on line ads have made many on line servicesfree. But do we pay a price by subjecting our selves to those ads? Adds that heardus like cows to particular watering holes. Ads that some one has obviously paida lot for. Ads that we ultimately pay the price for just by having to look atthem.Grass is free right? Animals that eat grass, they get it for free. For any one who has seen the movie the lion king knowsthat we are all connected in the circle of life. The animal eats the grass, theanimal gets eaten by another animal that later dies and turns to dirt and thatdirt helps the grass grow. But what ever you think, all things are connected insome form or fashion. Like a leaver that once one side is lifted the other sideis fundamentally moved as well. in this sence you cant get something from nothing.

So my thought is. That maybe by making everything free, we are actually giving up something ells in for its return. I justwant to know what that thing is. What is the real price I am paying when I getall my software for “free”. I guess it takes peoples work to build something like software, many hours, and many cupsof coffee, missed daylight from sitting in an office all day. Then by sittingall day, people get out of shape, medical bills rise. on the good side of things. maybe the price we pay is something we want to give up.

But lets not all be tricked into thinking you can truly get something for nothing.
