Good day mates,

I think it's quite clear the question, is it possible to make a VM with XP
pro x64 AMD in a computer with windows xp pro x32??

How could I do it?? Using Microsoft VM2008 and what else?

You can't.

What is Microsoft VM2008?

There are no Microsoft products that run on XP Pro x86 that support 64bit
guests.

If you want to run 64bit guests you need to run Windows Server 2008 x64 with
Hyper-V.

You can't do this with existing Microsoft products, however, VMware lets
you run 64bit guests on capable hardware under a 32bit OS. They have a
tool, VMware-guest64check, that you can download from their website which
will tell you if your host is capable. VMware Server is free, so all it
will cost you is the time to try it out. I highly recommend VMware
Workstation because of the added features (multiple snapshots is my
favorite) but it is not free.

Actually, Colin, the one product that simply won't work in Hyper-V is XP
x64. You can't get a network driver installed. Period. Full stop. The Legacy
Networking is an unsupported NIC, and the Integration Components don't
install on client systems at this point.

Re: VM x64 on win XP pro x32

I'm really hoping that we get Integration Components for XP x64, but we'll
have to wait and see. There's no reason why not - since they DO support them
for Server 2k3 x64. But they have them blocked from installing on XP x64. :(

Re: VM x64 on win XP pro x32

Well it works as long as you don't need a 'net connection ;)

I installed it yesterday as an experiment. Now I know why nothing happened
after the integration iso was mounted :(
Oh well.

Thanks for the info Charlie :)
