Windows Vista OEM Vista Ultimate 64-Bit Disc Cracked

Hi All:

To clarify, I want to say this post is about physical damage to the disc,
not hacking.

So early December 2007, I built myself a nice gaming machine. With all the
parts, I also bought an OEM copy of Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit for my
operating system.

After getting my motherboard replaced for a defect, I go to install Windows
again and I notice 4 cracks radiating from the centre hole of the disc. Lucky
for me, the cracks haven't spread to the data portion of the disc yet, so it
was still usable. So at least I have Windows back up and running again, but
now I'm worried about the disc.

How do I go about getting my disc replaced? I contacted the reseller whom I
bought it from and he said to contact Microsoft for a replacement, but I
don't know where to start. Any help would be appreciated. If it matters, I am
a Canadian.

If you have a DVD burner and burning software, the easiest workaround
would be to create a new disc while your old copy is still functional.
Vista discs aren't copy protected, as Microsoft considers the product
key to be sufficient protection.

I have already done that, but I just feel safer having an authentic disc. I'm
sure Microsoft has some sort of program in place for situations like this?
They can't possibly expect everyone with a cracked disc to just copy it.
