Vista Home Premium with Microsoft wireless keyboard/mouse combo being used.

Have gone into device manager and set the power management in the properties
of the HDI Compliant Mouse wherein I unchecked the box that allows the mouse
to wake the computer from Sleep Mode.

The Mouse HOWEVER still wakes the machine. So I checked every USB device
that had a power management option thinking that perhaps the issue is the
wireless receiver. I could not locate the specific device OR perhaps I did
without knowing it.

Either way, there was nothing else to uncheck.

Can anyone provide additional info so that only wake up option from sleep
mode will be the computer's power button ???

Thank you,
AJ

Re: Mouse Still Wakes From Sleep Mode

You should check in your BIOS for similar items to turn off. Odds are you
will find a setting there that takes priority over the os

Re: Mouse Still Wakes From Sleep Mode

Thanks John. Unfortunately, the BIOS only supports wake up issues related to
remote / NIC. Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Re: Mouse Still Wakes From Sleep Mode

I'm having the exact same problem with a Microsoft Intellimouse 5000. Have
the mouse set in device manager to not allow the mouse to wake the PC, but it
still does anyway. Anyone figure out how to fix this?

Re: Mouse Still Wakes From Sleep Mode

As previously mentioned, you can Check you BIOS and see if you have a wake
on USB. OP didn't but you may and it has helped some.

Re: Mouse Still Wakes From Sleep Mode

I don't have a wake on USB option. Also, I want to be able to wake by hitting
the keyboard, but not the mouse. You'd think that unchecking the 'allow this
device to wake the computer' box would do the trick, but it doesn't.

Try hibernation instead of "sleep". It is just about as fast as sleep
in terminating operation, and only incrmentally slower than sleep at
resuming. Vista sleep mode is problematic; hibernation is not, except
for a few reports of devices not resuming.
