Re: Cost of installing TS?
Hi,
I am not sure what your specific question is. In summary,
you need a server 2003 license for each instance of 2003
you install, plus a windows CAL for each device or user
(unless you opt for Per Server instead), plus a TS CAL for
each device or user.
The normal procedure would be:
- determine how many users and devices will be using
TS and what applications they will use
- determine hardware requirements (server specs, network
equipment, client PCs, thin clients, etc.), for this you
may need to run pilot tests and purchase equipment to
run tests on if needed
- determine bandwidth requirements (more testing)
- purchase hardware as needed
- purchase bandwidth as needed (if connecting over WAN)
- purchase third-party application licenses
- purchase the server 2003 license(s), which may or may not
include include Windows CALs (depends on SKU)
- purchase Windows CALs as needed
- purchase TS CALs as needed
- install server
- install TS and set license mode (Per Device or Per User)
- install TS licensing
- activate TS licensing
- install TS CALs
- test by logging on via TS
- examine error logs for TS related errors (licensing, etc.)
- install applications as needed
- configure security
- test each application thoroughly
