We use Group policy to enforce restrictions for our Terminal Server
users. When connected to the TS, they have a Start Menu that includes
the "Printers & Faxes" link. When that link opens, it displays the
"Server Properties" on the left hand side -along with the Help
Section, Scanner & Cameras, etc - which we would like to remove or
disable.

We cannot find reference to this in the Group Policy -either User or
Computer Configuration sections.

How can we remove or disable these items? thanks!

Re: Disabling "Server Properties" for Printers

Hi,

The Server Properties, Help, Scanner & Camera's are all part of the common
tasks associated with certain special folders. You can switch these off
(manually) by going to: Tools > Folder Options > and choose the option: Use
Windows classic folders. The corresponding GPO setting called 'Turn on
Classic shell' is found here:

User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows
Explorer

Users will still be able to open the Server Properties through the File
menu. I don't know if there's a way to restrict this. However, if the user
isn't a member of the (Domain) Administrators, Server Operators or Print
Operators groups there is nothing he can do (e.g. mess up).

Hope this helps

- Jonathan
