windows xp tablet edition problem.

Hi i was given a fujitsu seimens T4210 which worked fine until i found
my little girl playing with it, she had managed to put a copy of
windows xp prof into the drive and run it. which is from my desk top.
You see i did not get any start up discs or a copy of windows xp
tablet with it, as it is x company. It copys all the files from the xp
pro disc but when it asks if you want to repair windows or start a
fresh copy watever way you go it cant find the hard drive. i sorted
the BIOS still no luck. when i let it load on its own i get ( software
exception (0xc06d007e) occured in the application 0x7c812a5b. if then
press return it tells me the system is not fully installed. please run
set up again. i can only assume i need to get hold of a copy of
windows xp tablet edition and start again. can anybody help me without
it...................i am going round in circles!!!!

Don't have a solution for your problem, but to keep it from happening
again, perhaps you should look into a realistic way to keep your
computer away from your "little girl".

I don't know much about Windows XP Tablet Edition but since it's Windows, have
you tried to start your tablet in Safe mode where you restart and keep hitting
the F8 key?

I think you'll find that your only source of an installation CD is the
manufacturer and it might only be a Recovery CD which would mean that you'd lose
all your files. Also, since you're not the original owner, you might not be able
to even order one.

Personally, I think it may be time to seek the help of a local computer repair
shop.

You cannot buy a 'retail' version of WindowsXP Tablet Edition. That
version of WinXP is OEM only and is specific to each model. If you
don't want to wait for the image disk from the manufacturer to arrive
(assuming they still carry it . . .) you can make your own disk.

What you are going to need to do is a little complicated but doable.

Note that you must have a Full WinXP disk in your CDROM drive. This is
necessary to get the appropriate bootable image so that the CD you
create will be bootable.

1) First pull the drive and stick it in another machine as a slave
2) Download a 'slipstream' application (there are a number of freeware
ones out there.
3) Copy the OEM files to the Windows drive on the 'tablet' drive to the
I386 directory. (This is extremeley important . . . without those OEM
files, your Product key will NOT be recognized)
4) When you begin the slipstream, point the app to the I386 directory
on the 'tablet drive'
5) When the slipstream application is done you will have a disk that
has the WinXPte on it.
6) Look on the 'tablet' drive for a folder that contains the drivers
for your specific machine. Some manufacturers are nice and will have a
single directory with many directories below it that conatin those
drivers files. On my HP for example, the directory is called 'SWSetup'.
7) Make a copy of those folders.
8) Put the drive back into the laptop, and boot the WinXPte disk that
you created.
9) Once WinXPte is installed if necessary run the drivers from the
drivers directoroes that you made copies of.
