Hi. Im not sure if this is the area to be posting but im sure Ill find out.
Im new to vista (about 6 weeks), and frankly im not impressed in the
slightest. I just dont seem to be able to install any programs on my
computer. Ive read plenty of posts, both general and program specific but
nothing wants to work. I cant even install windows live. Im signed in as
administrator, tried running in compatability mode, to no avail. Am I missing
some basic security setting? Any help would be great as Im about to go mad.
Im 6 weeks down on work commitments and am having to run 2 computers just to
do the basics. PLEASE, HELP!

RE: Cant install programs? Can anyone help? Im at wits end.

You don't say what you have tried!!
You want help; but no info on what you have done!!!

Have you tried right-clicking on the setup.exe of the program>Run as Admin?
Have you right-clicked on setup.exe>Properties> compatibility>XP SP2?

Try a bit of imput, instead of wasting peoples' time!

Is this a new computer with Vista pre-installed? Or a Vista update to an XP
installation? As Mick Murphy asked (no relation... well, probably not within
10 generations anyway ;D ) what software are you trying to install? Need
more info to help out...

Wow, such a friendly and helpfull start to posting on this site. Gee thanks
Mick, your so supportive. I believe to answer your questions you could prob
read my intial post, PROPERLY!. It does say what I have tried. Yes I have
tried right clicking and installing as administrator, yes I have tried
compatability mode. Maybe you should stop wasting everyones time by posting
without reading first????
If you wish to be rude and arrogant tem I can do with out your help. Thanks

Lang- This is a new computer with pre installed home premium.
- I have tried heaps of programs, some include windows messanger, nero,
adobe reader, shockwave player, ect ect. This is just a few ive tried.
Im thinking this may be a "general" problem because I cant get barely
anything to install. For instance with nero, I have a disk, I have tried to
download the latest version, Ive tried many Mirrored sites, ect. To not even
be able to get windows live to install makes me think its something general,
or major?
Im trying to provide the info I can but if you require specifics then Ill try.
Oh, I even tried to use windows help online however couldnt even get that to
work. The product id couldnt be found automatically and when entered manually
it tells me its invalid. I got it off the actual operating system?????
Thanks for any help.

Jason,

Sorry for the delayed response... I took an "Easter Roadtrip" and just
returned the day before yesterday and am just now catching up...

OK, let's back up a bit... you say that you can't install many apps... what
error messages do you receive? (I saw no reference to the specifics of why
stuff isn't installing...)

I may be incorrect but I don't believe that Nero will run under Vista at
all.

You may also want to install Vista SP1 don't know if it will help though.

Re: Cant install programs? Can anyone help? Im at wits end.

I run Nero 7 under Vista Home Premium with no problems so far, for what it's
worth.
