2 GB is the minimum recommended by MS. However that's purely for a basic
system. Bearing in mind that you will load applications and new drivers/dll
files onto the primary drive as well, 8 - 10 GB should probably be enough,
unless you load numerous games, in which case you might need even more
space. I only use 8 GB which covers a number of MS, Adobe and other
applications, and still have only used less than half of this, but then I'm
not a gamer.

Win 2K Pro Partition Size

What size partition should I make on an 80 Gig HDD for Win 2K pro
operating system? I'm thinking about 25 gig for the OS & the rest for
data. I want to keep the os partition a small as possible without
interfering with the os. Also how big should the page file be? I have
a Packard-Bell Easynote Laptop F0336-V-089 with Intel Celeron MCU 440
@ 1.86 GHZ processor with 2 gig of memory. I want this machine to be
as efficient as possible with no extra bells @ whistles. Any
suggestions to achieve this will be appreciated.

There is no need to divide-up your drive...
but if you want to do that...you can get by with less than 25 gigs for the
OS.
Considering that most apps will install on the same drive as the OS (by
default)
Probably 10 gigs or so would be fine.

As to the pagefile...just let Windows regulate it and don't worry about it.
Since you have two gigs of ram, the pagefile will probably not be used too
much anyway

Re: Win 2K Pro Partition Size

And since you may only have a recovery disk any recovery may destroy any
partitions you have created
