Hi

I preface this by saying that the GUTS of my PC is about 8 yrs old, hate to
think of my BIOS settings etc, with an antique motherboard, a new 256mb PCI
(not even PCI-Express!) graphics card and 2.75gb of old RAM, and I am
running Vista Ultimate, 32bit, and today installed SP1.

Faultless install, no horror story to tell, BUT 2 small-ish changes I have
noticed:

1. I went to Start/Run/MSCONFIG/Startup and disabled the Skype service,
APPLYed it, and restarted my PC. In the past WHENEVER I have made a change
and accepted it, thru MSCONFIG, on restarting my PC I used to get the pop-up
that Windows has stopped some item from starting up, and I have had to SHOW
disabled programs etc...THIS DID NOT HAPPEN this time. Normal now NOT to
have that pop-up?

2. When I was in MSCONFIG/Startup I noticed a new service (CMicnfg Dynamic
Link Library) by C-Media Corporation. Not sure what this is and to whether I
can disable it....

3. A new item (PCI 3D Audio Configuration) HAS appeared in my System Tray.
This enables me to "configure" my 2 speaker audio setup (whoopee, I
know....!). It wasn't there pre SP1.

Everything else seems fine, a bit quicker displaying Explorer window
contents, haven't tried the old chestnut (file copying) yet, BUT my
disappearing CD/DVD drives continue. One minute they are there, I use one or
the other, and the other one disappears, not to return til after a reboot...

This is related to your audio hardware.
