Re: Windows VistaU pdate for Sigma High Definition Audio CODEC

I noticed that my Sigma Tel Codec driver was listed as possibly blocking the
SP1 Vista update showing up within windows update as its a known conflict
with Vista SP1, however I am unable to locate any new driver to install, as
MS suggest getting a new version of that driver, apparently I have the latest
version of the driver? I checked both my manufacturer, Gateway, and googled
Sigma Tel and located nothing?
So I guess I won't install Vista SP1 to avoid sound problems.

which driver do you have? cause i noticed that on the list too and mine is
6010.0.5343 and when asking it to update the driver it states I have the
latest one. I am up to date on everything else but sp1 still will not show

Re: Windows VistaU pdate for Sigma High Definition Audio CODEC

Robin,
I believe I had a version later than yours, my computer is about 30 days old?
From what I understand, when an update is available from MS for that driver,
they'll make it available, than SP1 will show up after that install of the
driver update.
I'll be patient and wait awhile, I can't afford to screwup a computer only a
month old and I definately need sound!

I went to the dell forum and found lots with same problem.
A tech said that dell was working on an update for this driver
I guess we have to wait and see because i am not going to mess things up
either right now- i will sit tight and wait
If you see it corrected or I do, I will post it in here and please you do
the same

Re: Windows VistaU pdate for Sigma High Definition Audio CODEC

Re: Windows VistaU pdate for Sigma High Definition Audio CODEC

I spoke to Microsoft on the phone today.
Seems thousands of people are having the same problem with this driver
update.
The problem is Sigma tel is not making audio drivers anymore and they sold
that division to another company who told me that they are not supporting
these drivers and not doing updates to them. So how do you update drivers
that do not exist anymore?

I told this to Microsoft and they told me they are working on a solution and
in the next few weeks we should see in WU a fix or patch for this particular
driver. So sit tight and wait.

I just wanted to update you on it
