I just recently purchase this laptop and have already upgraded with Vista sp
1, but I'm befuddled by a string of repeating error messages and warnings
that tend to reoccur. One of the most troublesome to troubleshoot has been
the following:

can be a hardware issue with this brand new laptop. I've searched through

Looks to me like the Ram chip in bank #3 of the ram slots on the motherboard
is either bad, or loose in its slot.

determine which of the 2 it might be and how i can test afterward to
detere=mine if the problem has been fixed?

There is a memory checking tool in Vista.
%SystemRoot%\system32\MdSched.exe
It's in accessories/admin tools.

Hello again. So I ran the Memory Diagnostics Tool, which came out clean with
no errors or problems. Also, as I wanted to better understand how you'd come
to the conclusion that it was bank 3, I look back over the copy of the event
id properties I posted originally and could easily see where bank 3 was
identified. So I went back into Event Viewer to see if the problem had
reoccurred since earlier this morning. In doing so, I noticed that within
the series of error event id's I'd received for this problem, some of them
actually identify Bank one in the details of the problem.

Nevertheless, the memory diag. checked out ok, and the problem has yet to
reoccur since this morning....Do you have any ideas of what I might do next,
or should I just leave well enough alone and monitor event viewer first to
see if there is a reoccurence.

Hello again. A brief update....This afternoon the problem reoccurred
resulting in a completely frozen laptop which I had to force to shutdown
(which it didn't really seem to like). Still no problems reported when I run
the memory checker.

Does anyone have any other ideas what might be causing this. This computer
is literally less than a week old and I'm about ready to head back to Fry's
to return it if I can't find some answers to these conflicts/errors.

if that fails claim the warrantee on the product.
