I have a new PC running Vista Home Premium. I tried the snipping tool soon
after I received the computer three weeks ago. It appeared to work fine at
that time. I just tried to use it again but could not find the shortcut. It
had been in the start menu under accessories but it was no longer there.
Using the Search facilities I found the program file "Snipping Tool.exe" on
my hard drive. I created a new shortcut but the program will not start,
nothing happens. I also tried double clicking on the "Snipping Tool.exe"
file. Again nothing happens. Any ideas anyone?

I have Vista Home Premium and have read about the Snipping Tool but it
does not exist on my system.
There is no shortcut in Start > Programs > Accessories and I can find no
executable of that name.
Hi you go all Programs/accessories/look at the list you should see Snipping
tool and after you use it once it should stay in your task bar. bye JP

Good plan but unfortunately, as I said, it does not exist in
Programs/Accessories - it is not there - it is an absent shortcut - it
is no more - it is a non program - maybe it has gone to meet its maker -
maybe it was a figment of MSs imagination
But thank you for the encouragement.

Thanks for that Cal Bear, I had looked in features hoping to see it in

I too have Vista Home Preimum and I found about the snipping tool by an
article that was in the Oshkosh Northwestern daily paper written by Kim
Komando.
She stated that by entering "Snipping Tool in the search box at the bottom
of the start box that list all your programs and hit enter. It came up and
is now permently in my upper program box where the Mail & Internet is located.
I hope you find this very easy, I did and I am a very casual PC user.

What firewall, anti-virus application or security suite is installed? There
are some that cause problems which do not appear immediately.

The Fire wall is the one supplied with Vista.
The Anti virus is AVG from GriSoft.
The Snipping tool did work after these were setup, but it no longer works
(nothing happens at all as I indicated in my original email.

NO The Anti virus is AVG from GriSoft.
The problem does not appear to have anything do do with anti viris programs.
They monitor and report new files downloaded and give a message when
something is found or they scan the hard disk at specified times. Again no
messages.
