Hey all...I have a kind of old HP at home with Windows 2000 Pro. I ran a
virus scan the other day and found I had infected .dll files that couldn't be
repaired. I chose to delete some of them, stupidly, and now the system goes
into a loop when I power on. It shows the HP logo, then the WIndows 2000
loading screen (the bar fills up all the way), and then a blue screen and
repeats over and over again. The F8 options do nothing. Is there any way
around this without having to reinstall Windows, because it wasn't mine and
therefore don't have the reinstall software. Thanks!

You could attempt a repair installation or else you could manually
restore the missing files from the Win2000 installation CD. The
latter course is risky because the restored files might not match
the current update level of the machine.

When I have a problem machine then I usually create an image
file of the system drive so that I can restore the PC to its original
condition, no matter what happens.
