I'm hoping someone can help me remove some remnants of a program installer
(Wilcom TrueSizer, a free embroidery resizing program). I tried installing
this, but it was not compatible with Vista (I have Vista Home Premium).
Tried to uninstall the program through Programs & Features in the Control
panel, but I got an error message during the uninstall process.
Subsequently, pieces of the program are still on my computer. Most
annoyingly, the "Do you want to restart your computer?" message that
continues to pop up any time I either reboot or turn on my computer. I know
it must be in the start up file (what was autoexec.bat??), but not sure how
to get there, and how to figure out what command string that might be. I ran
PC Tools Registry Cleaner, but that didn't get rid of this remnant. Can
anyone assist?? I've posted on Wilcom's TrueSizer forum, but I don't expect
a response. Thanks!

Re: Removing Remnants of a Program Installer

Your best bet is "System restore". if you press F8 during the 'black screen'
portion of a restart, just after the BIOS screen, you get a menu to start
System Restore, and if not, "Command prompt", where you can run the command
to start system restore.

HOW TO Start System Restore Tool from Command Prompt (Q304449):

Re: Removing Remnants of a Program Installer

Mark,
If I do a system restore, any settings changes I've made get undone. This
was over a month ago, and I really don't want to restore to a point that long
ago on my computer. It would be easier to just find the offending command
string and delete it, than to try to figure out what changes I've made
between that point and now, and fix all the things a restore would undo.
Thought about that, but it's not a viable alternative at this point :-(

http://www.ccleaner.com/ (C***Cleaner 2.6), Just FYI.

P.S. Excuse My Language, As I Am Just Calling It By It's Old Name, Just FYI.

P.P.S. The Product Works So Great At Deleting Left Over Windows Registry
Entries From Uninstalled Programs That My Parents Use It As Well On Their
Windows XP X64 Pro Edition SP2 RTM Computer (I Am Currently Using It In
Linux Using The Wine Microsoft Windows Emulator Software), Just FYI.

Re: Removing Remnants of a Program Installer

CB, thanks. Not sure if I should use this, as I have Office 2007 installed?
Not sure if MS is referring trying to use this utility to remove Office 2007
installer reminants, or not to use it if you have Office 2007 installed??

RE: Removing Remnants of a Program Installer

Great product, have used in the past succesfully, but unfortunately, it did
not resolve my issue :-(
